Security must always be paramount when using internet services, and we take this seriously when considering how to best serve our users.
Your unique username enables us to identify you as an individual. The password we provide at registration is only intended for use for the first time you logon. Following initial use, it is essential that you change it to a word of your own choosing to ensure the confidentiality and security of your estimating records.
- Log onto Inter-est using your existing password
- The Estimating tab is the first screen you come to. There is a button labelled ‘password’ to the bottom right of this screen.
- Click the ‘password’ button and enter your new password in the space provided.
- Retype your new password to confirm
- Click ok
To ensure passwords remain secure, we recommend that they are 6 or more characters long, and are a combination of letters and numbers. It is often a simple matter to substitute numbers for letters to make a memorable word more secure. For example, 4 can be used instead of an A; 3 instead of an E or 5 instead of S. Inter-est is not case sensitive.
For additional security, you should also consider periodically changing your password. We do not enforce this practice but strongly recommend you consider doing so for your added protection.

You will notice that we have made a minor cosmetic change to Vision. By popular demand we have renamed one of the tabs! On the initial Vision screen, the tab previously labelled 'Panel Detail' is now entitled 'Graphics'.
Please continue to send us your feedback by emailing us at info@inter-est.net.

To coincide with the launch of Inter-est Vision we also have a new web site - with a clean new look and lots of new content.
As well as the news page (you're looking at it!) the site has forums where you will be able to ask questions and provide feedback, a technical support page with frequently asked questions (FAQs), and a downloads page where a range of documents can be accessed.
The new site is easier for us to update than the old site, and we intend to use it to keep you better informed about the exciting developments we have planned for the near future. So make sure you check back here regularly!

Today we are proud to launch version 4 of Inter-est - with a link to eScribe and some new technology behind the scenes.
The first thing you'll notice is that the login box is no longer embedded in the web site, and has been replaced by a clickable link. This is a consequence of our changing Inter-est from using Java to Microsoft's .NET technology. Apart from this, though, Inter-est still looks and works the same!
To log-on, simply do the following:
1. Click on the Inter-est 4 Logon link. After a few moments a message box will appear.
Click Open or Run this program from its current location.
2. If this is the first time you have run a .NET program you will be prompted to install the .NET Framework. If this happens click the Accept button to proceed and the installation will happen automatically. You will then be prompted to install the Visual J#.NET Extensions. Again, click Accept to install it automatically.
3. The Inter-est 4 application will then downloads to your PC and automatically install. This will take a couple of minutes, and will only happen once.
4. Finally you will see a warning that you are about to run Inter-est. Click Open or Run this program from its current location. The Inter-est application will appaear with the log-on box in front Log-on as normal
As an example of the exciting things that moving to .NET enables us to do, Inter-est 4 also includes a linke to Thatcham's eScribe product. If you have installed eScribe then you'll notice a new Methods Manual button on the parts tab. Clicking this displays the eScribe methods manual page for the currently selected part.
